　　With the improvement of our living standard, more and more people canafford a car. As a result, our roads are more often than not crammed with cars.However, with more and more waste gas being discharged by the cars, the problemof air pollution becomes even more serious. So nowadays we advocate to lead alow-carbon life.

　　My suggestion is we should ride bikes more often instead of driving cars.Byriding a bike, we can not only exercise our body but also protect ourenvironment. Why not have a try, my dear friends?

　　The world we live in is being more and more intolerable because ofenvironmental destruction。 Bird flu and Sars are two typical examples thatenvironmental destruction may threaten our life。 Besides，forest destruction，water and air pollution result in decrease of planting land and unpleasantweather。

　　Serious as the problem seems，we can e up with some measures to deal withit。 First of all，the authorities should adopt the policy of "sustainabledevelopment"，and laws concerning environmental protection should be put intoeffect and enforced strictly just as our government has been doing。

　　What' s more，every citizen should realize the seriousness of the problemand make concerted efforts to protect our environment。 In addition，plantingtrees helps improve and beautify the environment。

　　我們生活的世界正變得越來越難以忍受，因為對環境的破壞。禽流感和SARS的是兩個典型的例子，對環境的破壞，可能危及自我的生命。此外，森林破壞，水和空氣污染導致減少業土地及不愉快的.天氣。

　　Once man did not have to think about the protection of his environment。There were few people on the earth，and natural resources seemed to beunlimited。

　　Today things are different。 The world has bee too crowded。 We are using upour natural resources，and polluting our environment with dangerous chemicals。 Ifwe continue to do this，human life on earth will not survive。

　　We realize that if too many fish are taken from the sea，there will soon benone left。 Yet，with modern fishing methods，more and more fish are caught。Weknow that if too many trees are cut down，forests will disappear。 Yet，wecontinue to use powerful machines to cut down more and more trees。 We see thatif rivers are polluted with waste products，we will die。 Yet，waste productsare

　　still put into rivers。

　　We know that if the population continues to rise at the present rate，in afew years，there won't be enough food。What can we do to solve theseproblems?

　　If we eat more vegetables and less meat，there will be more food available。Land for crops feeds five times more people than land where animals arekept。

　　Our natural resources will last longer if we learn to recycie them。

　　The world population will not rise so quickly if people use modern methodsof birth control。

　　Finally，if we educate people to think about the problems we shall have abetter and cleaner planet in the future。

　　過去，人們不必擔心保護環境的問題。

　　因為那時地球上人口稀少，自然資源似乎取之不盡。

　　如今，一切都改變了。世界變得擁擠異常。我們正在耗盡我們的自然資源，有毒化學制品的使用也正污染著環境。如果我們繼續這樣下去，地球上的生命將不復存在。

　　我們都明白如果從海里捕捉太多的魚，海里就不會再有魚了。但是，現代化的技術使得捕魚量越來越大。我們都明白如果砍伐太多的樹木，森林就會消失。但是，我們仍舊使用強大的機械砍伐越來越多的樹木。我們都明白如果河水被廢棄物污染的話，我們只有死路一條。但是廢棄物仍然源源不斷地進入河里。

　　我們明白，人口繼續照此刻這個速度增長的話，不出幾年，就會發生食物短缺。我們該如何解決這些問題呢?

　　如果我們多吃蔬菜，少吃肉類的話，我們就會有更多的.食物。因為同樣大小的土地如果種莊稼的話會比養殖動物多養活五倍多的人。

　　如果我們學會再利用的話，自然資源就能持續更久。

　　如果人們使用現代化的生育控制，世界人口就不會增長如此迅猛。

　　最后，如果我們能夠人們都意識到這些問題的話，未來我們就會有一個更好、更潔凈的星球。
